Multi-year initiatives:
- Resource Management discussions
occurring around proposed changes
to the Dokis dam
- Early stages of consultation for
proposed snowmobile bridge across
14-Mile Island at Hwy 69
Planning for French River Visitor Centre, which will
interpret the natural and cultural heritage of the French River
(an Ontario’s
Living Legacy/Great Lakes Heritage Coast initiative). The centre
will also provide local tourism information. The centre is to be
located off of Hwy 69, where it crosses the French River (currently
the site of an MTO picnic area). Planning is currently at the final
Design Development stage, with opening expected spring 2004. CHRS
is a partner in this initiative, specifically participating in development
of interpretive storyline elements for the centre’s exhibits.
