Canadian Rivers Day 2007 Highlights

This year, plenty of exciting events took place on Canadian Rivers Day across the provinces and territories. For a full list of events that occurred across Canada, click here.

Activities such as community paddles, river festivals, interpretive river guides, sharing heritage river stories, shoreline cleanups, and river film festivals contributed to the Canadian Rivers Day message of conservation, heritage and stewardship.

Here are some visual highlights from Canadian Rivers Day 2007:

Highlight #1:

Ottawa Paddle 2007:
Victoria to Petrie Island

In Ottawa, the CHRS and Ottawa Riverkeeper hosted an afternoon paddle on the Ottawa River that included over 200 participants and several voyageur canoes. The day was a great success; beginning on Victoria Island with a few words from Algonquin elder William Commanda, breaking at noon lunch, and ending with nature tours and door prizes on Petrie Island.

Thank you to all the participants who came out, and check out the Ottawa 2007 Canadian Rivers Day album:
